Ghee is a type of clarified butter, originating from India. It is commonly used for cooking, as a traditional medicine, and for Hindu religious rituals. Ghee is a rich source of vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fats. While you should eat fat in moderation, studies show that eating fatty foods such as ghee can help the body absorb some essential vitamins and minerals. Cooking healthy foods and vegetables with ghee may help you absorb more nutrients.
Accordingly, ghee is predominantly comprised of 99.5 % fat and less than 0.5 % moisture content. Furthermore, ghee is a source of fat-soluble vitamins including vitamin A (28.21 ± 0.142 IU/g), vitamin D (11.42 ± 0.425 IU/g), vitamin E (31.55 ± 1.109 IU/g), vitamin K, and phospholipids [16].
